Sorry for the wrong name, but the "Essential Unified Process" (http://www.ivarjacobson.com/products/essup.cfm) has nothing to to with Rational and IBM (in fact more with Microsoft). So I apologize that I called it R-UP ;-)

The forth point should be: "Only add features to the backlog never ever in the Sprint directly". The problem is what Philippe Kruchten (http://delivery.acm.org/10.1145/1290000/1281893/p38-kruchten.htm?key1=1281893&key2=7972259811&coll=ACM&dl=ACM&CFID=15151515&CFTOKEN=6184618) called "Agilitis", using Agile Practices without context. If you are not very careful, the context slips away. What seems lost in translation, and nothing new, is that planning IS an essential part of the process and planning without a distinct goal is useless. Agile practices need people who already understand this and want to use more efficient practices to reach their goal but it need more awareness and skills as a "heavy weight" process. I will certainly use SCRUM before I use RUP (or maybe we wait for essential RUP), but the simple truth is what a process only is a tool to support your work never a fool prove way you can go without thinking.
